Borealis (Chicago to Minneapolis/St Paul)

This new Amtrak route adds a second daily round trip between Chicago and St. Paul-Minneapolis Union Station, via Milwaukee. It runs on the same tracks as the long-distance Empire Builder between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest, and also shares part of the route with the Hiawatha between Chicago and Milwaukee. The full journey takes about 7.5 hours from start to finish.

Floridian (Chicago to Miami)

This Amtrak’s new long-distance route is a combination of the Capitol Limited and Silver Star. It provides a direct, one-seat ride between Chicago and Amtrak Miami Station, passing through Washington, D.C. 

Virginia Expansions (Richmond to Washington)

This new Amtrak route is a part of the $3.7 billion Transforming Rail in Virginia project. One of the biggest improvements is the increase in train frequency between Amtrak Train Station Richmond and Washington, D.C., giving travelers more daily options. The expansion also includes additional daily round-trip trains for cities such as Roanoke, Norfolk, and Newport News.

Pacific Surfliner (Los Angeles to Santa Barbara)
